The EuroCALL Teacher Education Special Interest Group (TE SIG) focuses on key issues surrounding language teaching with technologies, with a particular emphasis on how teachers learn to:

  • Integrate learning technologies effectively into their teaching practice,
  • Develop and sustain techno-pedagogical competencies, and
  • Adapt to evolving tools, methodologies, and learner needs in a rapidly changing educational context.

The TE SIG is especially interested in exploring:

  • Ways to support language teachers in their Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) practice,
  • Research methodologies relevant to teacher education in technology-enhanced contexts,
  • Connections between CALL, MALL, and AI-supported teaching practice and research to strengthen teacher development and innovation.

Until the 2025 EuroCALL Conference, our SIG primarily existed in a virtual form, continuing the efforts and vision of earlier colleagues who laid the foundations for its development. As the previous period was not digitally archived, we are unable to provide a complete account of the SIG’s earlier leadership, annual activities, or milestones.

Nevertheless, we sincerely acknowledge and appreciate the valuable contributions of those who kept the SIG active and vibrant in its formative years. Their enthusiasm and dedication created the intellectual environment that has now led us to a new, more structured phase.

The 2025 EuroCALL Conference marks the beginning of a new chapter, a remarkable one shaped and strengthened by a dynamic group of experts in Teacher Education (TE) who have come together with a shared commitment to revitalize and record the SIG’s legacy. Their professionalism, collaboration, and forward-looking mindset have inspired us to establish this renewed foundation, from which we will continue to build, document, and celebrate our work for years to come.
